11:20 pm - Queer Wedding Resources
|
Help! My partner and I got engaged on Valentine's day, and we're wanting to get married this summer, but we're having major issues finding queer specific resources.
I know there used to be a same-sex wedding show, and also a print guide (like the PinkPages, but all wedding) - does anyone know if these still exists and when/where we can find them?
We're working on a (very) small budget (in wedding terms that is) of about $5000-$8000. Our ideal wedding is outdoors, in a pretty area, with a building or space for a tent rental should it rain. Our date is flexible - as long as it's a Saturday, and this summer (July/August). Our area is also flexible - within an hour of home (we're in Brampton). We would like to have our ceremoney and reception at the same site if possible, and we're expecting around 80 people.
We're also looking for lesbian friendly photographers, caterers, DJ & officiant.
We're also looking for a wholesale flower market in the area - anyone know where we can find one? Or a reasonably priced florist?
Any tips or resources you could suggest would be greatly appreciated. Or hey, maybe you've got a big backyard you wouldn't mind renting out...
We Thank You in Advance,
Tiana & Lauren

| The Part of You That No One Sees | You are compassionate, caring, and soothing. You like other people to depend on you... In fact, you don't feel right unless you are helping someone out.
Underneath it all, you feel the burden of everyone's problems. Without your guidance, you fear that many people's worlds would fall apart. You like to feel in charge, even if it brings you a lot of stress. |

I want you to call, just so I can ignore you. I want you to at least PRETEND to take the blame, even if I'm the one at fault. I want 16 hours to be worth something to you, because it's worth everything to me. I wanted that to be you at my door, not some hotel guest at the wrong room. I want to have a nice night together, that doesn't involve drinking, drugs, or sex. I want you to think about me the way you did when you first bought me socks. I want you to care about me the way you did when I was scared of my own darkness. I want you to love my the way you did when you planned Valanetine's. I want you to be with me, the way we were in Quebec.
I want you to want me, the way I need you.

Find the one who calls you beautiful instead of hot, who calls you back when you hang up on them, who will stay awake just to watch you sleep.
Wait for the one who kisses your forehead, who wants to show you off to the world when you are in your sweats, and will hold your hand in front of their friends.
Wait for the one who is constantly reminding you of how much they care about you and how lucky they are to have you.
Wait for the one who turns to their friends and says, "...that's her."

| Your Love Life Secrets Are | Looking back on your life, you will only have one true love.
You're a little scarred from your past relationships, but who isn't?
You prefer a quirky, unique person to be your lover. You're easy going about who you're with, as long as they love you back.
In fights, you speak your mind and don't hold back. You know you're right, and you can get quite angry about it.
Getting over a break-up doesn't take long. Easy come, easy go. |

Congrats to Vinnie and Jon who had their one year on the 27th of November.
It's been 5 months today for Lauren and I... that's insane... it seems like just days ago we first met (then again, it was hot and sunny, now it's cold and snowing).
My mom was down for a few days this week - had a dr's appt Thursday morning, so came down Wednesday night, stayed over, and then Thursday morning mom, Lauren (who came in the morn) and I went to Golden Griddle for breakfast (what kind of breakfast buffet does have bacon???).
I started work at 1:30, Lauren and mom met me for my supper break, then the 2 of them went shopping (mostly for stuff for my brother I'm told. lol). I'm so glad they get along.
They both stayed Thursday night, and then mom left early this morning to go to a meeting in Milton, and Lauren left for work when I did.
So now I'm all alone again, contemplateing on Christmas gifts and stuff again. Actually, I think I'm gonna go clean my room - it's a mess!

12:53 am - Welcome to Christmas
|
Well... with all the festive weather we've had in the past 24 hours (yes, Toronto has snow, a good couple inches, and -12 C, -21 with windchill), I decided I would finish decorating my christmas tree. I put the tree up a few days ago, with the tree skirt and the topper, but hadn't put lights or ornaments on it.
So now it's all decorated and looking pretty, but it's missing presents under it! I have a few things I could wrap and put under it, but little Miss Nosey (AKA Lauren) would so be into them, so I'm just gonna keep them hidden for now.
Oh, and I got this really cute set of stockings and holders this year - there's a santa and a snowman, very whimsical and cartoon like, and the stockings match. Fun!
This Saturday is the festival of the lights thing at Nathan Phillips Square, so Lauren and I are gonna go to that, and Sunday we're gonna get our picture taken with Santa (yippee!). Oh, and on Dec 6th we're going to see Cyndi Lauper, Sandra Bernhard and Jole somebody at Massey Hall. *smile*
Lots to keep me busy... work is now 6 days a week, so if anyone needs to get a hold of me, leave a message on my cell.

I'm surprised you 2 haven't killed each other yet... I guess that's what love really is. LOL.
Love T

I feel happy today - just this overwhelmingly joyous feeling. I think it started with Santa this morning, and then sorta dulled off throughout the work day, then the minute I left work, saw the big crystal tree all lit up, walked outside and there was a big celebration going on at Dundas Square for the lighting of the tree there. THey had an awesome band playing (10 piece - 3 vocal, 2 trumpet, sax, keyboard, drums, guitar, bass). Everything looks so festive... just put a huge smile on my face.
And to that the fact that I'm headed over to a soccer reunion with the bois, Lauren's coming down tonight, we're gonna go walking to see the lights at city hall after the party, I get to put up my christmas tree tomorrow. Ahhh... I love this time of year!
To all those not yet feeling the spirit - GET FESTIVE! (Or I'll super glue a santa hat to your head!)
